About

Cape Investment Advisory, Inc. serves individuals (both non‑high‑net‑worth and high‑net‑worth), businesses, qualified pension and profit‑sharing plans, individual retirement accounts, trusts and other entities. The firm provides discretionary and nondiscretionary portfolio management, investment monitoring, financial planning, a wrap‑fee advisory program, and access to third‑party and affiliated asset managers.

The firm’s process begins with personal discussions to establish clients’ financial situation, objectives, time horizon and risk tolerance, and it constructs asset allocation plans informed by historical risk/return data and optimization software. Portfolios are implemented either by CIA’s IARs acting as portfolio managers, by sub‑managers using model portfolios, or by recommended third‑party asset managers (TPAMs/AAMs), with periodic reviews generally conducted quarterly and at least annually.

The brochure discloses that certain IARs have reportable disclosure events, including a dismissed assault charge, prior inaccuracies on insurance applications that resulted in licensing discipline, a failure‑to‑supervise matter that led to a six‑month prohibition from serving as a broker‑dealer principal, and a civil court order to repay credit‑card debt. The firm also discloses multiple affiliated businesses (an insurance agency and a broker‑dealer), arrangements under which TPAMs may provide remuneration to CIA, and practices such as allowing IARs to manage client accounts without the same evaluation applied to TPAMs and not voting proxies or taking action in class‑action suits on clients’ behalf.
